Hawley Primary School
“We would love to redevelop and modernise our Food Technology area for our lovely children at Hawley Primary School. Even though we are in a beautiful Victorian School, the current children’s kitchen area is looking tired and overworked but, despite this, it is still used every day by groups of children making all sorts of delights including cakes, pizzas, fruit salads and even Tudor pies during their Tudor topic! Our children with Special Needs find cooking a relaxing activity if the day becomes overwhelming and our busy Breakfast and After School club use the area twice a day to prepare food for children at the clubs. We have plans to install new kitchen units and sinks and we would use the £1000 prize money to purchase new equipment and utensils for the kitchen to make the area as up to date and appealing as possible, maybe even inspiring a few future Star Chefs in the process!”
The Grove Academy
“We have an area of our playground called The Friendship Garden. It is a quiet area where children with ASD needs or children who struggle with the hustle and bustle of the playground can go for a quieter play. The fencing around this area is broken and falling down. We would use the money to replace the fence, making The Friendship Garden a more welcoming place for our vulnerable children.”
Frogmore Junior School
“We would like to use the money to remark the playground. It’s in dire need of doing and it will give us the opportunity to paint a tennis or netball court as well. The money will make a massive difference and the children will enjoy spending more time outside exercising. We recently had our Trim Trail redone and if we can refresh the playground as well that would be amazing.”
Cordwalles Junior School
“The focus for Cordwalles continues to be ‘the relentless pursuit of excellence’ in all areas. Our aim is for all children to have the chance to perform on our stage every year, whether it be in a drama performance, class assembly, choir or through dance. We strongly believe that enabling our children to experience the joy of performing arts will develop their self esteem, confidence and resilience. We have a huge hall with a fixed stage which we use regularly throughout the year. We would like to buy drop down microphones so that our children’s speaking and singing voices are heard, we have one mic currently. Our Beauty and the Beast performance at Christmas was a huge success and we are currently auditioning for our Summer performance of The Lion King. Having these microphones will enable all performers to be heard and will support our growing performing arts curriculum. We know that opportunities in school shape a child, so please help us to give our pupils the experiences they deserve!”
South Camberley Primary & Nursery School
“With Summer fast approaching we are busy planning a number of trips and visits which ultimately provides our pupils different experiences. Given the current economic climate, our parents are finding it more and more difficult to support the cost of such visits and there have been occasions when we have had to cancel trips because we are struggling to cover the costs from our already stretched school budget. £1,000 would make such a huge difference in supporting the cost of these trips and therefore enabling all of our pupils to benefit from these experiences.”
